About 15 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have been arrested in Lagos by security agents. They were arrested at various parts of the metropolis, with most of them arrested at Ijora Badia and Kotankowa areas, it was gathered.  The 15 suspects were among the 1661 people that were arrested by Ops MESA between February and May in the state, Daily Trust learnt.

ROBBERS who attacked the home of a Bolivian couple before dawn in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo killed their only child "because he wouldn't stop crying", police officials say.  The mother identified the boy as five-year-old Bryan Yanarico Capcha and told police that six armed men had broken into their home. The married couple, who came to the city at the beginning of the year to work in a clothing factory, gave the assailants the 4,500 reais ($A2,165) they had in the house, but the criminals wanted more money, the woman told police. Police officials cited in the media said the boy, who was in his mother's arms, "would not stop crying," which irritated one of the assailants who shot him in the head. The criminals fled immediately and the child was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died on the way. Nelson Mandela Cape Town   :  Former South African president Nelson Mandela’s health has improved but he remains in a critical condition, the Presidency said Thursday. “President Jacob Zuma visited former president Nelson Mandela in hospital in Pretoria today (Thursday), June 27, and was informed by the medical team that Madiba’s condition has improved during the course of the night. He remains critical but is now stable,” presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said, reported Xinhua.

Subscribers registering their sim Credit: dailypost.com.ng Due to the various problems affecting the registration of Subscriber Identity Module cards in the country that will end in two days, the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers has called for a three-month extension of the exercise. The National President, NATCOMS, Chief Deolu Ogunbanjo , appealed to the Nigerian Communications Commission to grant the extension in order to allow telecoms subscribers, who had registered before now by agents, but were having issues with the network operators, as well as those who were unable to register their SIM cards for one reason or the other to complete the registration process.
