15 Boko Haram Suspects Arrested In Lagos

About 15 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have been arrested in Lagos by security agents. They were arrested at various parts of the metropolis, with most of them arrested at Ijora Badia and Kotankowa areas, it was gathered.

The 15 suspects were among the 1661 people that were arrested by Ops MESA between February and May in the state, Daily Trust learnt.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Umahi, while reviewing the activities of the army in Lagos and Ogun State, stated that the Joint Military TaskForce, Ops MESA, arrested 1361 miscreants within the Lagos area, while its counterpart attached to the Quick Response Squad, arrested 115 criminals along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

"Those arrested by the Quick Response Squad include 71 males and 53 females. These criminals are among those terrorising innocent citizens plying the route," he added.

He said all the suspects have since been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

General Umahi maintained that the Quick Response Squad was created by the Chief of Army Staff to assist the police in patrolling flash points along federal highways.
