During a visit to Maiduguri by a Presidential Committee on dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North, more than 50 members detained in Maiduguri denounced the sect and pleaded with government for amnesty. One of the detainees, Adam Konto, who introduced himself to the Amir (commander) of the Bayan quarter, pledged to assist authorities if given a second chance. He condemned the terror group.
